How DB® LIVE will work

DB® LIVE will run from 24th to 27th June and presentations will include up to 20 minutes of content on One Super Easily Actionable Strategy with a brief pitch to a freebie at the end.

Each day will have up to 5 presentations based on the four themes, and while the presentations themselves are pre-recorded, all speakers are invited to attend their event day live to interact with attendees in the chat box or in the community, if they’re able to.

Along with the presentations, there will be a Facebook group for attendees to have fun in, ask questions, play games and competitions, and attend live evening (UK time) sessions, hosted by some of the sponsors or speakers.

While tickets to attend DB® LIVE will be 100% FREE, there will be an opportunity to purchase a TIT – A Total Insider Ticket (yes, we know, it’s intentional 🤫), A TIT will:

  • Include instant access to the presentations for 12 months
  • Include an invitation to attend the live guest panels at 7pm each day where you will be able to ask questions of our hosts and panel of 3 guests.
  • Have a private podcast feed of all the recordings so you can listen “on the go”
  • Include an invitation to our Get It Done week 1st-5th July, to get that much needed accountability to actually implement a few of those Super Easily Actionable Strategies
  • Have $25 Disobedient Dosh to spend on any of our services or products within 12 months
  • Be sold on a sliding scale of accessible pricing of $47 – $97 which is really important to us and the values we hold in the Disobedient Business Co.

Leading up to DB® LIVE, we’ll have two weeks of (big time) promotion. We’ll provide you with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics to make it all easy to promote your presentation and DB® LIVE in general.

During the promotion phase, while DB® LIVE is running, and for a week after the summit is complete, we’ll also be promoting the TIT. This will provide fab additional value to our attendees, while also allowing you as a speaker, to earn affiliate commissions and grow your email list by promoting the summit and grabbing 40% commission when someone who signs up via your link, upgrades their free ticket to a TIT.”

What we ask of you (please)

So this is all great, but what kind of work does it require of you?

1. Your speaker information

The first thing we’ll need is some basic information (you know, all your links, a cool photo, your bio, that kinda stuff) so we can finish creating our Registration page and Speakers Page.

The deadline to submit your speaker info is Sunday 19th May (it’s super easy and short).

2. Your presentation

Next up is your pre-recorded presentation! This is a 15-20 minute (max) presentation that is definitely meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and curated. It can be slides that you voice-over, a “piece to camera” where you talk to the camera or a combo of both (with your lil face in the corner) – whatever best fits what you’re sharing and what works for you and your brain.

Remember: 1 Presentation = 1 Super Easily Actionable Strategy!

The key to a successful presentation here is action-focussed and Simple AF. No matter what format you choose, you are free to use your presentation however you’d like in the future, there is no exclusivity to DB® LIVE.

Please remember though that the presentation is a short training intended to help small businesses move the needle just a little with that ONE super easily actionable strategy. It’s not a webinar that leaves folks waiting for more at the end.

Here’s a suggested format:

  • A quick introduction (1-2 mins)
  • An overview of your 1 Super Easily Actionable Strategy (1-2 mins)
  • Where people often go “wrong” and tend to overcomplicate it as it relates to your one strategy (1-2 mins)
  • A Teaching section (10-14 mins)
  • Specific action steps – ideally this is super super simple to meet the “super easily implementable” theme (1-2 mins)
  • Up to a 2-minute freebie pitch to encourage attendees to join your email list (2 mins)
 

Presentations are due by Sunday 9th June.

3. Promoting DB® LIVE

The power of an online summit comes from a group of amazing business owners coming together for a single purpose. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved, both us and also all the speakers (and not forgetting the attendees who might not know about it otherwise).

Because of that, we ask all speakers to share DB® LIVE in some way, at least twice. We’re not going to be prescriptive about this, you might want to include it on all your emails in the promotional period (10th to 27th June), share it on socials, re-share any of our posts, boost adverts you see by giving them some love, send dedicated emails or create dedicated socials and more.

We’ll provide all the resources you might need to promote closer to the time and will be emailing all speakers before the end of May, with how to set up their affiliate links.

4. DB® LIVE joining in

It’s most definitely not a requirement, but we’d love it if you would join in with the fun during the week of the summit (24th to 27th June). Whether that’s hanging out in the DB® LIVE chat box, chatting with attendees in the Facebook community, co-hosting an evening session with us, or just generally joining in with the fun – from our experience of summits, the more you hang out during the week, the more beneficial it is (both for you and for the attendees!).

Tech know how

Yes, we 100% know that The Tech can sometimes be the thing that gets in the way of even putting yourself forward for this kind of thing as there are plenty of us out there that are AWESOME at the work we do but tech can be our Achilles heel.

So, to try to put your mind at rest, and even if you’re great at tech, so that you know what’s needed (or not needed), here are some thoughts about putting your presentation contribution together…

Including a bio with the correct number of characters

The submission form allows for 700 characters (including spaces) which will give you +/- 100 words (as long as you’re not a fan of Really Big Words like Pippa is that is 😉). The form won’t allow you to submit unless you have a bio that is 700 characters or under – this website is great to use to check your bio draft.

A good quality square headshot image

It doesn’t have to be a professional photo to be “good quality” but it should be at least 800px x 800px in size and as high a resolution as possible so your glorious face looks amazing on the speaker pages. You can send one as big as you like as we can always compress it – the bigger the better in terms of quality (and be sure it’s a square with equal sides and not a rectangle).

We’ve talked above about choosing whether you want to voice-over slides, appear in a corner of a presentation or do a “piece to camera”, whatever you choose here are some of the things we know some folks find challenging:

Creating the actual slides (if you’re using them)

This can be a real headache and cause a serious “Canva rabbit hole” kind of challenge. You can totally create your slides on Canva, PowerPoint, Notion or any which way you like. We’ve created an easy-to-use Canva template so, if creating slides isn’t your jam, you can totally grab our template here to make your life easier.

Creating a voiceover with your slides (or a lil cameo of your face)

If you’re cool with tech you will 100% have your own way of doing this and you can totally scroll down. On the other hand if you and tech are in a 🙅 relationship then here’s the deal:

If you want to just voiceover your slides and not show your face. Zoom is your friend here as you can screen share your presentation in full screen mode (as if you were on a call) and just record you talking to the slides. Same goes if you want to switch between slides and speaking directly to the camera. Then just save the video – done.

If you want a little cameo of your face in the corner of the screen, probably the easiest app to do this in is Canva (if that’s where you created your slides) or you could use Loom if you want to share your presentation from something like Notion (there are some limitations, check it out here)

And if you want to do a “piece to camera” then you can also easily record this in Zoom as if you were on a call but all by yourself. Then just save the video.

Pitching at the end of your presentation

You are welcome to pitch a freebie at the end of your presentation. To get the most from your presentation, we recommend sharing a freebie that helps them move toward the One Easily Implementable Strategy you’ve promised and pitch that. Having something directly related to your presentation that gets attendees closer to implementing that ONE strategy will perform better than an unrelated freebie (that being said if you don’t have something that fits the bill, you’re welcome to link to any freebie or even have a call to action that is to sign up to your list). You could then hook your freebie up to a tripwire so that people have the option to purchase a lower cost product from you after they have redeemed their freebie, but if you do this, please make sure that to just redeem the freebie, attendees do not have to provide a credit card number.

So you’ve now got a recording, how can you share it with us?

The format of your video

However you choose to record your presentation, the presentation itself needs to come to us in the form of a video file. The file types we can accept are .MOV or .MP4 – if you have any questions about this, just holler.

Sharing your video with us

We would please ask you to upload your video somewhere online where we can download a copy of it (and that is safe from prying eyes for you as much as us). This can be a hosting platform like Vimeo or Loom or saved in a cloud drive like Google Drive or Dropbox. Wherever you save it, please make sure the permissions are set to allow downloads before you share the link to the video in your submission.

Closed captions & transcripts

Please do not add closed captioning to your video as we will be adding closed captioning to all videos as well as providing transcripts in a way that is the same for all presentations, to make it consistent and thus easier for folks watching.

Linking folks to your freebie

On the submission form, we request a link to the free resource you’d like to share with attendees. This doesn’t have to be an opt-in if you don’t want it to be, but if you want to grow your email list as a result of being a speaker at DB® LIVE, we’d suggest it was 😊. Please provide a link to where folks can complete an opt-in form. It is fine to have a tripwire on this page if you want to, but it’s essential that people do not have to enter credit card details just to get your freebie – we’ll be testing all downloads before the event.

Affiliate Info

While summits are great for overall visibility and making new connections, a little extra income never hurts either, right?

That’s why we have an affiliate program for the TIT (Total Insider Ticket) where you’ll receive a commission from all sales from traffic you refer to the event. Payouts will be made to affiliates by 31st July.

The commission structure is 50% for speakers (and 40% for all other affiliates).

The pricing structure for the TIT is a little different to what you might be used to seeing for online summits. It follows an accessible pricing model, intended to be more inclusive, especially for folks just starting out. There is also no fake urgency built in via early bird pricing or “fast action” purchasing. There will be more detailed information about pricing on the TIT sales page (coming soon), but the outline pricing structure is as follows

  • $97 – “You are financially secure by means other than your new business” (this is the full “retail” price of a ticket to DB® LIVE)
  • $77 – “You’re doing OK but there isn’t that much cash to go around to invest in your new business”
  • $47 – “Your basic needs are pretty much met but investing in your new business feels pretty impossible”
 

To make it as easy as possible for you to generate extra income via affiliate sales, our DB® LIVE Resource Hub includes things like email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics. However, you’re more than welcome to write your own copy and create your own graphics. The DB® LIVE Resource Hub will be available towards the end of May.

Just remember to use your affiliate link, which we will send you after we have your speaker info 😊.

Important: As with all affiliate promotions, be 100% sure to explicitly disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing it with your community.
