What it's all about

At the Disobedient Business® Co., we’ve spent a lot of time over the years working with newbie service-based business owners. Folks like coaches, copywriters, brand strategists, instructional designers, consultants – you get the gist.

One thing we know for sure, is that no matter what the “celeb” gurus will have you believe, it’s not a gentle stroll in the park to reach “multiple whatever” $£$£ figures (🙄), let alone actually building a sustainable business you love running that doesn’t burn you out.

The second thing we know for sure is that There Is Too Much Confusing And Not Actionable Information Out There, *cough* aka a lot of bullshit *cough*. Newbie biz folks are D-R-O-W-N-I-N-G in free PDFs, mini courses and god knows what else, and they’re not even reading them, let alone taking flipping action! It amazes us sometimes how folks persist past those overwhelming early months (or years!).

Well, we mean to change the narrative – Disobedient Business® LIVE: The Newbie Palooza enters the chat.

DB® LIVE will bring together 25+ amazing businesses to share their One Super Easily Actionable Strategy with newbie business owners. Over 4 individually themed days, speakers will share just one, super implementable strategy, that will help newbie service-based business owners, Sell It, Shape It, Do It and look after their number one asset (them, obvs!).

How it'll work

DB® LIVE will run from 24th to 27th June and we plan to make this a Big Annual Event. Presentations will include up to 20 minutes of content on One Super Easily Actionable Strategy with a brief pitch to a freebie at the end.

Each day will have up to 5 presentations based on the themes above, and while the presentations themselves are pre-recorded, all speakers are invited to attend their presentation time live to interact with attendees in the chat box or in the community.

Along with the presentations, there will be a Facebook group for attendees to have fun in, ask questions, and  play games and competitions.

While tickets to attend DB® LIVE will be 100% FREE, there will be an opportunity to purchase a TIT – A Total Insider Ticket (yes, we know, it’s intentional 🤫), A TIT will include…

  • instant access to the presentations for 12 months
  • an invitation to join our live guest panels each day at 7pm (UK time)
  • a private podcast feed of all the recordings so you can listen on the go

Why no huge bonus bundle pass thingamajig?

If you’ve attended or spoken at a summit before, you might be expecting to see a big-ass bundle of “freemium” products that speakers have been invited to contribute (aka “donate”) for folks who buy some kind of extra premium level pass, over and above the paid TIT we’ve already talked about above.

Zero shade as we can see the merits of that approach and sure, the extra cash to support delivering DB® LIVE would be cool, but we’re not including a big-ass bundle of products.

Why? Well, there’s a few reasons, but really they all boil down to TOO MUCH NOISE.

Even folks who have been knocking about the online business space for years, find bundles (or bundles of products in summits), to be overwhelming and all sorts of tools have even had to be created for us, just to be able to track the things we grabbed for “free” 🤯🤯.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of a newbie biz owner who is already drowning in free shit they’ve acquired from All The Places – we want DB® LIVE to help folks filter the noise and take action on strategies that actually work for them, their brains and their businesses. It’s why we’re dead set on…

1 Presentation = 1 Super Easily Actionable Strategy

And it’s also why we won’t be limiting attendees to only seeing your presentation for 24 hours! Each presentation will be live for almost 72 hours, to give folks with a free ticket a fighting chance of watching it (and grabbing your freebie too!). So you can add “better than normal chance of growing your email list” to that list of perks too (and not just one day of wild sign-ups and then tumbleweed).

What we'll ask of you

So this all sounds great, but what kind of work does it require of you if your application is successful?

1. Your basic information

The first thing we’ll need is some basic information (you know, all your links, a cool photo, your bio, that kinda stuff) so we can showcase you in all your awesomeness.

2. Your presentation

Next up is your pre-recorded presentation! This is a (absolutely max) 20-minute presentation that is definitely meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and curated. It can be slides, a “piece to camera” where you talk to the camera or a combo of both – whatever best fits what you’re sharing. Remember: 1 Presentation = 1 Super Easily Actionable Strategy!

So the key to a successful presentation here is action-focussed and Simple AF. No matter what format you choose, you are free to use your presentation however you’d like in the future, there is no exclusivity to DB® LIVE.

3. Promoting DB® LIVE

The power of an online summit comes from a group of amazing business owners coming together for a single purpose. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved, both us and also all the speakers (and not forgetting the attendees who might not know about it otherwise).

Because of that, we ask all speakers to share DB® LIVE in some way, at least twice. We’re not going to be prescriptive about this, you might want to include it on all your emails in the promotional period (10th to 23rd June), share it on socials, re-share any of our posts, boost adverts you see by giving them some love, send dedicated emails or create dedicated socials and more.

The old adage is true: if 20 people told 5 people, who told 5 people (and so on), we’d have a gazillion(ish) attendees and a very successful summit (which is great for everyone involved).

We’ll provide all the resources you might need to promote closer to the time.

4. DB® LIVE joining in

It’s most definitely not a requirement, but we’d love it if you would join in with the fun during the week of the event (24th to 27th June). Whether that’s hanging out in the DB® LIVE chat box during your presentation, chatting with attendees in the Facebook community, co-hosting an “ask me anything” style session with us, or just generally joining in with the fun – from our experience of summits, the more you hang out during the week, the more beneficial it is (both for you and for the attendees!).
